The hardwood
installation process
Once you've made your purchase, a Gilman Floors representative will be in touch to confirm your installation appointment. He or she will discuss with you everything you need to know prior to your hardwood installation. In the meantime, however, there are a few things to know.
First, you'll need to prepare the room. While we will move your furniture for you, you'll need to move any fragile items and empty any closets. You'll also want to make sure you handle any other projects, like painting, before your flooring installation.
It's likely that we will deliver your hardwood a few days before your installation so that it can acclimate to the temperature and humidity levels of your home. If this is the case, we will let you know in advance.
On the day of the installation, an adult member of your household (at least 18 years of age) will need to be home to show the installers to the work area. We'll evaluate the space, make sure your subfloor is ready to go, and remove your old flooring if necessary. From there, we'll work on installing your hardwood flooring. During this time, keep pets and children away from the area until the installation is complete.
After your installation is over, you'll need to stay off your floors for a set amount of time. We'll let you know how long it'll be before you can start enjoying your new hardwood!
